Outraged by Taliban's (lack of) Covid protocols, Elon Musk makes a joke

Like the rest of the world, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is also quite upset with Taliban, but the reason for it entirely different.

During the weekend, the 50-year-old billionaire took to Twitter to make a joke about the Covid protocols ignored by the extremist group that recently took control of Afghanistan.

Sharing a screenshot from Al Jazeera news channel of Taliban members surrounding a table in Kabul, Musk expressed concerns about their ignorance to his 59.3 million followers. "Not one f***ing mask," the meme read.


"Do they even know about the delta variant," he exclaimed.


One of Musk's fans replied to the meme, and said that one of the Taliban members from the picture looked like Armenian-American actor Dan Bilzerian, claiming that the celebrity "fell off the deep end."

The SpaceX CEO immediately replied, "Deep cut."


The longstanding war in Afghanistan reached a watershed moment on August 15 when the Taliban insurgents closed in on Kabul before entering the city and took over the presidential palace, forcing embattled President Ashraf Ghani to join fellow citizens and foreigners to flee the country.

Taliban insurgents began moving towards Kabul following the overnight collapse of the two remaining cities of Mazar-e-Sharif and Jalalabad.

The Taliban ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001, but following the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, the brutal regime of the militant group came to an end as they were removed from power by US-led forces in 2001. The group has been on the offensive in recent months and has now seized power again.
