Outer Banks Season 5 OTT release date and time in India

Outer Banks Season 5 will premiere in India on August 20, 2026, exclusively on Netflix. The final season will have 10 episodes, and all of them will be released together, allowing fans to binge-watch the complete story without waiting for weekly episodes.

The series is expected to follow Netflix’s usual release schedule for its original shows, with the episodes becoming available at around 12 am PT/3 am ET, which translates to approximately 12:30 pm IST on August 20 in India.


The fifth season marks the end of the adventure series, which has followed John B and his friends through dangerous treasure hunts and personal conflicts. Across its four seasons, Outer Banks has reportedly accumulated nearly 200 million views and appeared on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list 25 times.

What will happen in the final season?

Season 5 begins after the tragic death of JJ, played by Rudy Pankow. His loss leaves the Pogues devastated as they find themselves far from home in Morocco. The group has also lost the Blue Crown, leaving them with another major challenge to overcome.

John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo will have to depend on one another as they attempt to move forward while dealing with grief and several new threats. Their goal is not simply to return home but also to reclaim the future and freedom they have been fighting for throughout the series.

The Pogues will continue to face danger from familiar enemies. Chandler Groff, played by J. Anthony Crane, remains at large, while Dalia and the Corsairs are also closing in on the group. At the same time, the Kooks are determined to make sure the Pogues have no easy path back home.

One of the more unexpected developments will involve Rafe, played by Drew Starkey. Despite his complicated history with the Pogues, he is expected to form an uneasy alliance with the group as they face their biggest challenge yet.

The creators have previously indicated that the final season will bring the treasure-hunting story and the Pogues’ journey towards freedom to a definitive end.

Outer Banks Season 5 cast and ending

The main cast is returning for the final chapter. Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, Carlacia Grant, Austin North and Fiona Palomo will reprise their respective roles. Tony Crane and Cullen Moss are also returning and have been promoted to series regulars for the final season.

The creators have known for a long time how they wanted Outer Banks to end. In a previous conversation with Netflix's Tudum, co-creator Josh Pate revealed that the team had the final scene in mind from the beginning. The creators had initially imagined the show as a five-season journey centred on adventure, treasure hunting and friendship.

The idea for the series reportedly came from a photograph of teenagers on a beach at dusk during a power outage. That image inspired the creators to imagine a story about four friends who were always looking for adventure. Over the years, that original idea expanded into the world of the Pogues and their treasure hunts.

With Season 5 now set to close the story, fans can expect the final episodes to address the group's biggest unfinished conflicts while bringing their journey to a conclusion. Stay tuned!
