The weekend watchlist is packed with everything from a long-awaited rock reunion to supernatural horror and big-screen science fiction. This week’s new releases bring Oasis back into the spotlight, Stephen King’s Carrie to television, Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day to streaming and Ben Affleck’s thriller Animals to Netflix. Gaming and music fans also have major releases to explore, making this a busy week across streaming platforms and entertainment.

Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger

For Oasis fans, Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger offers a behind-the-scenes look at one of the biggest music reunions of recent years. The documentary follows Liam and Noel Gallagher during their 2025 Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour, including rehearsal, backstage and concert footage. Disney+ describes it as an account of the band’s comeback that also explores the emotional impact of Oasis’ music on fans across generations. The film also features the brothers’ first joint interviews in more than 20 years. The documentary arrives on October 9 on Hulu and Disney+. The Associated Press called the film a surprisingly moving portrait of forgiveness, fandom and music.

Disclosure Day

Steven Spielberg returns to extraterrestrial territory with Disclosure Day, starring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson and Colman Domingo. The sci-fi thriller follows a meteorologist and a government cybersecurity whistleblower who uncover a decades-old conspiracy surrounding extraterrestrial life. Peacock says the film asks what would happen if humanity finally had proof that it was not alone. Disclosure Day begins streaming on Peacock on October 9, after its theatrical release earlier this year.

Animals

Ben Affleck directs, co-writes and stars in Animals, a tense kidnapping thriller arriving on Netflix. Affleck plays Mark Kimball, a Los Angeles mayoral candidate, whose son is kidnapped. As he and his wife Abigail, played by Kerry Washington, scramble to raise the ransom, they become trapped in a web of secrets and deception. The film also stars Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun and Adriana Paz. Animals releases on Netflix on October 9.

Matchbox: The Movie

John Cena leads Matchbox: The Movie, an action-adventure inspired by Mattel’s famous miniature cars. Cena plays Sean, an undercover CIA agent who returns to his hometown and reunites with his childhood friends, only for them to become caught up in an international mission. Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Arturo Castro and Teyonah Parris also star. The film premieres globally on Apple TV on October 9.

Carrie

Stephen King’s horror classic gets another screen adaptation with Mike Flanagan’s Carrie series. Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, with Samantha Sloyan also part of the cast. The limited series brings King’s story of an isolated teenager and her terrifying supernatural abilities into a television format. Carrie is now streaming on Prime Video, giving horror fans another major release for the week.

Gears Of War: E-Day

Gamers also have something major to look forward to with Gears of War: E-Day. The prequel takes players back to the first hours of Emergence Day, the catastrophic event that changed the world of Sera. The game launched on October 6 for Xbox Series X|S, PC and Steam and is available through Game Pass. Xbox describes it as an origin story centred on Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as the Locust Horde emerges from underground. With music, horror, sci-fi, action and gaming all arriving together, this week offers plenty of options for viewers whether they want to revisit a legendary rock band, face a supernatural nightmare or dive into an entirely new world.
