Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil OTT release date locked: When and where to watch the Malayalam mystery comedy-thriller

After completing its theatrical run during the Vishu season, the Malayalam film Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil is now getting ready for its OTT release. The mystery comedy-thriller, led by Kunchacko Boban, released in cinemas on April 15, 2026, and is now heading to streaming less than a month later. Directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, the film mixes suspense, dark humour and emotional drama in a setting that slowly becomes tense and unpredictable.

When and where to watch the film online

According to Netflix's listing, Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil will begin streaming on the streaming platform from May 13, 2026. The film has already appeared in the platform’s upcoming releases section, confirming its digital premiere date.

The OTT arrival comes shortly after the movie’s theatrical release. While the film opened to mixed reviews in cinemas, many viewers had been waiting for its streaming release, especially those who missed watching it during the Vishu holiday period.


Reports around the film’s OTT deal also created discussion online. Some industry trackers pointed out that the movie’s acquisition by Netflix came as a surprise because Malayalam films on the platform are usually titles that either perform strongly in theatres or receive highly positive reviews. Still, the film managed to secure a digital release on the platform.

Story set in Wayanad

Set in Tholpetty in Wayanad, Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil follows Sethu, played by Kunchacko Boban, a government health worker who spends his days caring for his bedridden brother while living a quiet and routine life. His world begins to change after a mysterious stranger unexpectedly arrives at his house, pulling him into a situation filled with tension and uncertainty.

As the story progresses, the film explores fear, suspicion and survival against the backdrop of family struggles and a police investigation linked to Maoist activity in the area. Blending psychological drama with dark humour, the movie builds much of its suspense through the confined setting and the uneasy relationship between the characters trapped inside the house.

Cast and crew of the Malayalam thriller

Along with Kunchacko Boban, Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil features performances by Dileesh Pothan, Sajin Gopu and Chidambaram S. Poduval in key roles. The supporting cast includes Rajesh Madhavan, Jaffar Idukki, Sharanya and Sudheesh.

The film marks the first collaboration between Magic Frames and Udaya Pictures. It has been jointly produced by Listin Stephen and Kunchacko Boban, with Justin Stephen serving as co-producer. The project also reunited director Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval and Kunchacko Boban after their earlier film Nna Thaan Case Kodu.
