The action drama began its run on a steady note and showed strong growth on Day 2. However, Sunday evening reportedly saw a drop in footfall, with trade analysts attributing it partly to the high-voltage India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match. Despite the dip, the film has managed to cross the Rs 30 crore mark in India within its opening weekend.
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, O’ Romeo earned around Rs 9 crore on Sunday compared to approximately Rs 12 crore on Saturday. The three-day total now stands close to Rs 30 crore. A detailed breakdown suggests that the film collected Rs 8.5 crore on Day 1 (Friday), Rs 12.65 crore on Day 2 (Saturday), and around Rs 9 crore on Day 3 (Sunday, early estimates), taking the cumulative figure to nearly Rs 30 crore, with final numbers expected to push it higher.
Family cheers for Shahid Kapoor
Soon after the film’s release, Shahid received heartfelt appreciation from his family. His wife, Mira Rajput, took to Instagram to praise his performance. Sharing pictures with him, she wrote, “My Romeo. When he asks, 'Main hoon ki hoon nahi (Am I there)?', remember, 'Tum Ho. Aur ho vahi (You are there). The one who is relentless, talented beyond belief, eyes that express a thousand words, and a heart that always mends. Because what holds you is the light. Destiny's child. It's time to shine. Spectacular is an understatement. I am so proud of you. O Romeo now in theatres.”His brother, Ishaan Khatter, also shared a note applauding Shahid’s portrayal of Ustaraa. He wrote on Instagram, "So immensely proud of you, bhai (brother). The golden words for me as an actor - 'to burn inside, with an outer ease'. You embody that principle with such elan. You deserve the skies and the best roles as an actor."
About the film
Apart from Shahid Kapoor, the film stars Triptii Dimri in a leading role. The ensemble cast also includes Vikrant Massey, Tamannaah Bhatia, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal and Nana Patekar.O’ Romeo is reportedly inspired by a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. The story revolves around Mumbai underworld gangster Haseen Ustara (played by Shahid Kapoor) and his intense romantic relationship with Afsha (Triptii Dimri). According to the makers, the film explores themes of passion, pain and the irreversible consequences of love denied.
