Orange Is the New Black's Dascha Polanco accused of assault

LOS ANGELES: "Orange Is the New Black" star Dascha Polanco has been accused of assaulting a teenage girl.

The 33-year-old actress appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on December 3 to face four counts of assault and harassment for allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old Michelle Cardona, reported People magazine.

Cardona alleges the actress ill treated herin the teen's Upper Manhattan home on July 29.

She said the actress punched her in the head, pulled her hair and used her fingernails to strike the teen's arms.

Polanco's lawyer Gerald Lefcourt says that his client was set up, and that Cardona is seeking to get money from Polanco.

"This is an attempt to extort money by making a false claim," he said.

Polanco's next court date is in January.
