Oppo Watch review: Offers a worthwhile experience at a pocket-friendly price

Oppo bets big on the battery life and you can easily get a day’s worth of juice.

Good looks, display, battery life and a lag-free experience makes the Oppo Watch stand out among the WearOS-based smartwatches.
GET IT FOR: Starts at Rs 14,990
HIGHLIGHT: Good display, decent battery life

The Oppo Watch is the first smartwatch from mobile brand Oppo. It runs on WearOS and supports both iPhones and Android phones. The software experience is quite similar to any WearOS-powered smartwatch. Having said that, the Oppo Watch is aiming to offer a differentiated experience in terms of design, display and battery life — all with a pocket-friendly price tag.

When it comes to the Android ecosystem, there aren't many popular smartwatch choices in the budget range. The Oppo Watch, which looks almost similar to Apple Watch, wants to be seen as a reliable one-stop choice for Android-phone buyers. The similarities with Apple Watch — even the packing box — is hard to miss.

The Watch comes in two sizes — 46mm and 41mm and priced at Rs 19,990 and Rs 14,990, respectively. The Oppo Watch features a unique dual curved display which reminds one of the flagship Samsung phones. It houses a sturdy aluminium alloy frame with a 1.91-inch rectangular 3D flexible AMOLED screen. The display is bright and vivid. It is definitely one of the major strengths of the Oppo Watch. Sunlight eligibility is good and the colours are decent too.
The display blends seamlessly with the frame and the silicone band. Overall, it looks simple yet classy.

There are two colour options — black and gold.

The Oppo Watch is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor and the device is pretty smooth overall. It pairs with your Android phone and you can make calls or reply to texts. The experience is similar when used with an iPhone but you won't be able to receive calls or reply to texts.

The device can also be used to monitor heart rate, steps and sleep. It is water resistant up to 50 metres. There are options to track breathing exercises, apart from walking, running and strength training challenges. This watch does a decent job when it comes to activity tracking. Oppo bets big on the battery life and you can easily get a day’s worth of juice. It features VOOC fast charge and the technology claims empty-to-full charge in 75 minutes.

Not many brands can provide a good over-all experience in the budget segment. But the Oppo Watch definitely does so. Good looks, display, battery life and a lag-free experience makes the Oppo Watch stand out among the WearOS-based smartwatches.
