Imam Siddique hits back at Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 20 remark
While explaining his point to Qazi, Salman brought up Imam’s stint on the reality show. Imam, who became one of the most talked-about contestants of Bigg Boss 6, has now publicly challenged the way his past was described.
What Salman Khan said about Imam Siddique
During the Saturday, October 3 episode, Salman was addressing Qazi’s conduct when he referred to Imam and suggested that he too had behaved in a way that involved deliberately bothering other contestants.According to Imam’s open letter, the specific reference was: “Imam Siddique ne bhi yeh kiya tha...”
It was this comparison that prompted Imam to respond. He shared a clip from the episode on Instagram along with his detailed note addressed to Salman and the Bigg Boss platform.
Imam said the attribution was false and strongly denied that he had ever harassed another contestant with the intention of troubling them.
Imam calls the reference ‘defamatory’
In his letter, Imam wrote that Salman’s mention of his name on national television was “extremely defamatory and factually incorrect”. He argued that describing his Bigg Boss 6 conduct in this manner presented him negatively before a large audience without giving him an opportunity to respond.Imam wrote, “I have never harassed any contestant with the intent to trouble them.” He maintained that his time on the show was centred on entertainment, tasks and performance, and said he completed his journey with dignity.
He also pointed to the possible impact of such a reference on his professional reputation.
Imam said the use of his name as a negative example could affect the reputation he had built over decades.
In the letter, he referred to his 44 years of work across advertising, broadcasting, corporate, design, education, events, entertainment and fashion. He also said the reference affected his family's honour.
He wrote, “When my name is used as a negative example before crores of viewers, without me being present to defend myself, it causes serious damage to my reputation.”
What does Imam want Salman to do?
Imam asked Salman and the Bigg Boss team for a clarification and correction on the show. He also requested that his name not be used in what he described as a defamatory context in the future.Despite his objection, Imam maintained a respectful tone towards Salman. He addressed the actor as an "elder brother" in the industry and said he hoped Salman would consider his request fairly.
“I have always respected you as an elder brother of the industry, and I continue to do so,” Imam wrote.
