US President Donald Trump is hardly known for his impeccable manners. And the latest on his list of oh-no-he-didn’t is the video footage that allegedly shows Trump causally using his middle finger to fix his hair after he was corrected by astronaut Jessica Meir.
Trump, who was on call with Meir and her fellow astronaut Christina Koch, congratulated the two on being the 'first ever female spacewalkers'. Trump was heard telling Meir and Koch who were at the International Space Station that they are “amazing people; they're conducting the first ever female spacewalk to replace an exterior part of the space station.”
However, while they are the first to complete an all-female spacewalk outside of the craft, Meir wanted to clear the air and not take all the credit, correcting the president and telling him that the first female spacewalk took place in 1984 and 14 more have since followed.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Trump raises his middle finger to scratch his forehead and fix his hair for a few seconds. Perhaps it’s just a quirk, as it is not the first time Trump has been accused of the hand gesture during an official meet.
During Black History Month in 2017, it looks like he is doing the same thing while seated with Omarosa Manigault. Later that same year, it seems that he used his middle finger again when asked NFL players kneeling during the nOops he did it againational anthem.
