Heart-shaped lake Hridaya Saras in Chembra Peak trek

Chembra Peak, tucked away near the charming town of Meppadi, is dubbed the highest peak in Wayanad, standing at an elevation of about 2,100 meters (6,890 feet). This majestic summit is a must-visit for adventure-seekers and nature-lovers, offering breathtaking vistas of the Western Ghats. But it is the hike to Hridaya Saras, the almost-romantic heart-shaped lake, which is the highlight of the journey.

The Chembra Peak trek welcomes tourists with lush meadows, dense forests, picturesque valleys and serene tea plantations, coupled with a misty allure that is likely to leave a mark on your soul. Halfway up the trek, travellers are greeted by the natural lake. Interestingly, Hridaya Saras is known to hold water all year-round and is believed to never dry up, even during the hottest months. The calm, green surroundings, as well as the reflections of the blue sky in the crystal-clear waters, are a haven for photographers.
