Success is the flavour of the stock market. As per a new tradition at a stock exchange, a delectable cake is presented post the listing of a company and after the customary ringing of the bell. But the venue of the cake-cutting reveals if the IPO performance has raised the company to the exchange’s creamy layer. A prominent company got a taste of the new ritual after its cake-cutting ceremony was conducted in the lounge outside whereas a day earlier, another company was feted in the auditorium. The reason: the company’s stocks didn’t fetch the expected value at the exchange. A slice of life’s tough lessons taught through a slice of cake.
