Top Indian designers are busy each time a grand wedding is around the corner. But the recent flurry of weddings has sent an unlikely contender laughing all the way to the bank — an international menswear brand. One wedding, says an insider, is enough for employees to achieve their half year goals at one single shot.

If the luxe international brand sells about 20 suits every few months, a wedding will see a higher number fly off the shelves in a single week. A brand liaison also reveals that many family members request the brand to custom make sherwanis for them but these requests have to be declined as it goes against the brand ethos.

Some couture houses have waist length bandhgalas but that’s where the buck stops. One can only imagine the business international labels would do, if they started making Indian wedding wear for men.
