The Internet today has become a part of our daily lives, but it was predicted 30 years before its invention by an intellectual Marshall McLuhan.

On his 106th birth anniversary, Google on Friday paid tribute to the great philosopher's concept of human development in its own way, with a creative doodle.

"Today's Doodle, which celebrates the visionary's 106th birth anniversary, illustrates this theory by showing how McLuhan viewed human history. He saw it through the lens of four distinct eras: the acoustic age, the literary age, the print age, and the electronic age," Google also said.

Professor and writer by profession, McLuhan had shaped the media from arts to advertising and journalism.

"The medium is the message", the famous quote by the man who predicted the World Wide Web, conceptulised the idea that human history is divided into four eras - the acoustic age, the literary age, the print age and the electric age.
