On JRD's 116th birth anniversary, Ratan Tata remembered their special trip to manufacturing facilities for the B1B bomber and space shuttle.
Ratan Tata and Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy (JRD) Tata have always shared a special bond, despite not being related by blood.

On JRD's 116th birth anniversary, the 80-year-old businessman took a trip down the memory lane. Remembering the good ol' days with two pictures, Tata wrote that he and the senior Tata shared a deep passion and interest in aviation.

The Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus wrote on Instagram that he had planned a tour to the manufacturing facilities for the B1B bomber and space shuttle which made Jeh's (Tata's adorable nickname for JRD) eyes sparkle.

"These photos bring back pleasant memories of visits that I arranged for Jeh to visit manufacturing facilities for the B1B bomber and the space shuttle. We were privileged to be invited to tour the manufacturing facilities, an opportunity not many have," he wrote.

The octogenarian took over the reins of Tata Sons when JRD decided to step down in 1991 and name Tata the successor.

Last year on November 29, the billionaire tycoon had shared a post on JRD Tata's 26th death anniversary. He remembered 'Jeh' as a friend, role model, mentor, and someone who had a profound influence on him. The duo spent a lot of time together during the last few years of his life at work and at home.

The two enjoyed spending time on the shop floor of TELCO (now Tata Motors), and the Tata Trusts Chairman enjoyed watching JRD being showered with genuine love and affection from his workers and supervisors.

"I miss him dearly and will always thank him for what he taught me," his post read.

Tata's love for flying and aircraft is a well-known fact. To mark the New year the end of the decade, Tata had shared one of his favorite moments from this decade - flying the F18 Super Hornet at the Bangalore Aero Show.
