On Day 1, it’s smiles and selfies for new Infosys boss Salil Parekh

Salil Parekh took charge as the new Infosys boss on Tuesday. A trained aeronautical engineer, he is expected to galvanise the software major into action, and also exorcise the ghosts of the past year (Vishal Sikka’s exit, boardroom battle between management and founders, allegations of corporate misgovernance etc).

And on his first day in the Infosys headquarters at the Electronic City, the 53-year-old who reached the campus on Monday night, seemed to have his hands full. And while he did not have any townhall gathering lined up on day one, there were other things on his agenda.

From a photo-op against a bluesy “Welcome to Infosys, Salil” backdrop to interacting with some employees, and posing with a few others for a picture, there was a lot to be done. A group of six (lucky) Infosys employees even managed to get a selfie with their new superboss.

A packed schedule probably also explains the fact that Parekh has not had the time to update his LinkedIn profile, yet. The last we checked on Tuesday afternoon, it still had him listed as “Business Manager, Capgemini”!

And while the Infy scrip didn’t show much turbulence at the change of guard - it was mostly flat - experts hope that this IIT-Powai alumnus and IT services veteran will be able to fix things seamlessly and quickly. And without any boardroom blues.
