The Odia music industry is mourning the loss of one of its most loved voices. Renowned composer and singer Abhijit Majumdar passed away at the age of 54, leaving behind a rich musical legacy and countless memories for fans. While tributes poured in from across the country, it was the singer's Instagram post that deeply moved social media users.

Soon after Abhijit Majumdar’s passing was confirmed, his Instagram post began circulating widely. The images captured him on stage, immersed in music, smiling and connecting with his audience, something he was known to cherish throughout his career. Fans flooded the comment section with messages such as “Miss you dada,” “Miss you sir,” and “Rest in peace,” while many said they would keep listening to his songs on loop in his memory.



For many followers, the post felt like a final goodbye from an artist who lived for music. Several fans pointed out how the caption, “Those moments,” now carried a deeper meaning.

Pays tribute as Odisha mourns a musical loss

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi confirmed Abhijit Majumdar’s death through an official post on X. Expressing his sorrow, the Chief Minister described the singer-composer’s passing as an irreparable loss to Odisha’s music, cinema, and cultural landscape. He also extended condolences to Majumdar’s family and offered prayers for the peace of his soul.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also paid tribute, calling Majumdar a defining figure in Odia music. In his condolence message, Pradhan noted that the composer’s unique musical style had earned him a special place in the hearts of listeners over several decades. He added that Majumdar’s untimely death was a major loss for the Odia art world.

According to hospital sources, Abhijit Majumdar had been battling multiple serious health complications for a long time. He was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on September 4, 2025, in critical condition and passed away after prolonged treatment.

Born in Cuttack, Majumdar began his musical journey in 1991. Over the years, he grew into one of the most influential names in the Odia music industry. His body of work includes more than 700 songs across Odia and Sambalpuri films, albums, and independent projects. From romantic melodies to energetic numbers, his compositions became an integral part of Odisha’s popular culture.

As tributes continue to pour in, Abhijit Majumdar is being remembered not just for his immense contribution to music but also for the joy and emotion he brought into people’s lives.
