NEW DELHI: Instagram announced that it has launched new updates at F8, Facebook's two day annual developer conference which commenced from May 1. Instagram stated it had updates on the way people share their moments on stories, connecting with friends over video and discovering new interests on Explore.
From a sticker of your new favorite song on Spotify to action shots from GoPro, users can now post directly to Instagram stories from other apps. Instagram said more apps will be getting added to the stories feature soon.
Users need to tap the share button in the Spotify or GoPro app and their content will be pulled directly into the Instagram camera. From there they can edit and add to their story or send it via Direct. They don't have to connect their Instagram account to other apps in order to share to Stories.
Instagram said it is unlocking the ability for third parties to design unique, interactive camera experiences for their followers like face filters, text styles and stickers.

In the coming weeks, Instagram will bring video chat to the platform. To start a video chat, users need to tap the new camera icon at the top of a Direct thread. Users can chat one-on-one or with a small group — and they can keep the conversation going for as long as they like. They can also minimize the video and continue the chat while doing other things on Instagram.
Video chat is testing now and will roll out globally soon.
The content in the app's Explore feature is now organised into topic channels so that users can browse across interests and go deeper on any area they'd like. The new Explore will be rolling out over the coming weeks.
Instagram said it will filter bullying comments intended to harass or upset people in the Instagram community.

Their offensive comment filter, which automatically hides toxic and divisive comments, particularly those aimed at at-risk groups and attacks on a person’s appearance or character, as well as threats to a person’s well-being or health is on for the global community and can be disabled in the Comment Controls center in the app. Instagram said the new filter will also alert them to repeated problems so that they can take action.
Instagram said it is also expanding its policies to guard against bullying young public figures on the platform.
"Since Mike and I founded Instagram, it has been our goal to make it a safe place for self-expression and to foster kindness within the community. This update is just the next step in our mission to deliver on that promise," said Kevin Systrom, co-founder and CEO.
