Battle of the beauties: Who will win in the Fatehi vs Fernandez showdown?
Jacqueline Fernandez is gearing up to respond to Nora Fatehi's defamation suit that alleged she was trying to harm the latter's prospects in Bollywood by ruining her reputation.

Her lawyer has issued a statement about the case.

In an interview with ETimes, Fernandez’s lawyer Prashant Patil dismissed Fatehi’s allegations. He claimed his client has never sought to defame Fatehi, nor had she ever made any disparaging remark on the actress in print or on TV. He also claimed his client is yet to receive an official copy of Fatehi’s defamation suit. Once an official confirmation is provided by the Supreme Court, she would respond to the allegations legally. “Till date, she (Fernandez) has maintained the sanctity of law and because the matter is sub-judice she has always avoided speaking in front of the print and social media,” he was quoted as saying to the English daily.

He also added that Fernandez has the “utmost respect” for Fatehi but if she is dragged into the case, she will have no choice but to respond in kind in order to “protect her dignity”.

Both Fernandez and Fatehi were questioned by the Enforcement Directorate over the last few months in connection with the infamous Rs 200 crore extortion racket run by conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar.

On December 12, the ‘Ek Toh Kum Zindagi’ dancer alleged that Fernandez was “trying to tarnish her reputation” in the industry and this has caused several professional setbacks for her. She also alleged that the ‘Murder 2’ star was envious of her rapid rise in the industry, and was thus trying to associate her with the money laundering case.

Earlier, the ED claimed that assets worth Rs 7.27 crore connected to the money laundering case belonged to the ‘Kick’ actress.

On the workfront, Fernandez was last seen in the Akshay Kumar starrer 'Ram Setu'. She will next feature in the upcoming Rohit Shetty comedy-drama 'Cirkus' opposite Ranveer Singh.
