Given Cyrus Poonawalla's current interests in the vaccine business and Ajay and Swati Piramal's former interests in healthcare, a possible collaboration between the two families on the business front isn't such a surprise. But Piramal Museum of Art's latest exhibition, showcasing the works of Raja Ravi Varma, sees an entirely different overlap of interests between Poonawalla and the Piramals.

Poonawalla has lent a painting by the artist from his collection, 'Portrait of Seth Lachman Das' for the exhibit. It was painted in 1896 by Varma. In 2013, the painting was the highlight of an auction by Mumbai's Pundole Art Gallery. Pre-auction, the piece carried an estimated price tag of Rs 3-5 crore. It was reported at the time that the work had stayed with the subject's family for 115 years and was being auctioned for the first time.
