NEW DELHI: In a move to up usage, WhatsApp on Thursday rolled out a 'web browser' version of its app. "Today, for the first time, millions of you will have the ability to use WhatsApp on your web browser," WhatsApp's official blog said.

"WhatsApp's web client is an extension of the user's phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from the user's mobile device," blog said. According to WhatsApp, all messages will still be indexed on the user's phone.

To connect your web browser to WhatsApp client, the user has to open web.whatsapp.com in her/his Google Chrome browser. "You will see a QR code --- scan the code inside of WhatsApp, and you're ready to go. You have now paired WhatsApp on your phone with the WhatsApp web client," the blog said.

The user's phone needs to stay connected to the internet for WhatsApp's web client to work. The latest version of WhatsApp is required to access this feature. "For now, WhatsApp we will not be able to provide web client to iOS users due to Apple platform limitations," the blog added.
