Aditya Dhar’s Journey Behind the Camera
Aditya Dhar, the acclaimed Indian filmmaker, has carved a niche for himself in Bollywood with a trajectory that few could have predicted. Known for his intense focus and introverted nature, Dhar’s journey from a hotel management graduate to the director of blockbuster films like Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) and Dhurandhar (2025) showcases a unique blend of discipline, vision, and dedication.

Despite the massive success of his debut film, which dramatized India’s retaliation following the 2016 Uri attack and starred Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, and Paresh Rawal, Dhar maintains a low-profile personal life. His debut film, made on a modest budget, went on to become a box office blockbuster. The film earned him the National Film Award for Best Director and the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director at the 65th Filmfare Awards in 2020, along with other accolades from Jagran Film Festival, Screen Awards, Zee Cine Awards, and IIFA Awards.

In a 2020 interview with the Times of India, Dhar shared insights into his introverted lifestyle and working style. He explained that he has never been the “hang-out type” and finds his best space for creativity at home. During the national lockdown, Dhar utilized the time to revisit old screenplays, refine his storytelling, and explore ideas for future projects. He also applied his hotel management training to cooking at home and focused on productive collaborations through virtual meetings, realizing that physical presence is not always necessary for effective planning.

Dhurandhar: A New Benchmark at the Box Office

Released on December 5, 2025, Dhurandhar has rapidly rewritten box office history. Starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Krystle D'Souza, the espionage thriller has already crossed Rs. 550 crore in India, becoming the second fastest Hindi film to reach the milestone domestically. Its songs, including Akshaye Khanna’s entry track FA9LA and the dance number Shararat featuring Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza, have become widely popular.

Produced under B62 Studios and Jio Studios, Dhurandhar combines high-octane action with a compelling narrative and continues to dominate despite competition from major Hollywood releases.

Building a Versatile Career

Beyond directing, Dhar has explored writing, lyricism, and production. He co-founded B62 Studios with his brother Lokesh in 2019 and has produced films like Article 370 (2024), a top-grossing film in India, and Dhoom Dhaam (2025), a Netflix original comedy co-written by Dhar.
