With his tight work schedule, making time for the sport is a challenge.
The recently-concluded football world cup, with its many ups and downs, held no real interest for Mumbai-based realtor Ashish Raheja. In part, due to his preference for “offbeat sports”. “If it’s trending, I trend out,” he says. About his choice of sports, Raheja prefers individual sports like shooting and chess.

“I’m learning to shoot. I’m a member of the Worli Rifle Club. I got into it about two years ago because of an experience I had in Vietnam. I got to handle an AK 47 in a controlled environment and got to feel the kickback. It was fun,” the MD of Raheja Universal says.

He is quick to clarify that it is for target practice and not hunting. “It [shooting] helps your concentration. It’s all about aiming for a goal. It is a lot of hard work. People think of it as an adrenaline sport. But [I feel] it is a focus sport.”

With his tight work schedule, making time for the sport is a challenge. Its satus? Work-in-progress.
