Who is Rahul Patil?
Rahul Patil, appointed CTO of Anthropic in October 2025, is driving the enterprise-scale evolution of Claude, the startup’s AI platform. Known on Wall Street for the “Patil effect,” he reorganised teams and optimised costly hardware through smarter memory use and faster decoding, allowing Anthropic to offer always-on AI agents directly to companies.A Bengaluru native, Patil earned a BE in Computer Science from PES University before completing an MS in Computer Science at Arizona State University and the University of Washington, along with an MBA. He began his career at Microsoft, where he spent nine years in engineering roles. In 2013, he joined Amazon Web Services to build large-scale data platforms for mobile, IoT, and cloud developers. He later became senior VP for cloud infrastructure at Oracle, overseeing engineering and product management across compute, storage, security, and monitoring services, blending technical depth with strategic vision.
