You will never guess which Tom Hanks film has a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It is not the 1994 blockbuster Forrest Gump, nor is it the 1998 epic war film Saving Private Ryan or the survival drama Cast Away. The Hanks film, which has a 100% rating, is none other than the 1995 animated action-comedy film Toy Story.

This was Pixar Studio’s first feature film. Pixar would later go on to rival Disney as an animation studio. On Rotten Tomatoes' list of "Best Movies of All Time", Toy Story is ranked 17th, closely followed by its sequel, Toy Story 2, which is ranked 19th. However, Hanks' Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, and The Green Mile take their place on IMDb.

Toy Story represented many ‘firsts’. Not only was the blockbuster Pixar’s first feature film, but it was also the first animated film fully generated by computers, according to Parade. Each frame took between 45 minutes and 300 hours to complete.


It also had a nearly entirely different appearance. At first, Woody was supposed to be a ventriloquist dummy who harassed the other toys, which made him seem totally evil. Disney halted the entire process until Woody was made more appealing.

In addition to receiving a non-competitive Special Achievement Academy Award, the movie was nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Original Screenplay (the first animated picture to be nominated for the award), Best Original Song for "You've Got a Friend in Me," and Best Original Score.
