Country music star Ella Langley canceled her show, set to take place in Oklahoma's Tulsa on Friday evening, over what she described as a "serious security threat." The singer, aged 27, made the announcement in a post on Instagram, saying the threat involved the "safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team." She said the decision had been taken based on the advice of local authorities and her security team.

'Can’t tell you how sorry I am'

"I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am," Langley said in the post. "This is not a decision that was made lightly. I was so looking forward to spending tonight with you, but your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way," she added. Langley was scheduled to perform alongside special guests Kameron Marlowe and Laci Kaye Booth.

Police swept venue several times

Police in Tulsa, the second-largest city in Oklahoma, on Friday (October 9) said that "a call was made threatening the lives of people attending the event." Officials swept the area with sniffer dogs, a bomb team, patrol and venue security multiple times, but found "no credible threat to the event’s safety."

'Evening ruined for thousands'

Police said they told Langley’s staff that no credible threat was found, but the team "decided to cancel the performance anyway." They added it was "unfortunate that some nefarious characters successfully disrupted the event, ruining the evening for thousands of people." An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
