All you need to know about World's 'wildest' Airbnb
According to the BBC report and Airbnb, tucked away in a glacial bay between Kulusuk and Tasiilaq, this one-bedroom floating cabin offers something most vacations can’t: total disconnection. No Wi-Fi, no neighbours, no notifications. The only company you’ll find are drifting icebergs, curious ravens, and, if you’re (un)lucky, a polar bear wandering by.
The hut is the brainchild of Nicco Segreto, a glacier guide and seasoned ice climber who has spent years exploring East Greenland’s wilderness. He describes the cabin as the perfect way to experience “true Arctic solitude.” Built in a Finnish factory and designed for extreme weather, the hexagonal glass cabin floats peacefully on a secluded fjord, tethered to land by ropes and an anchor.
It’s not just rugged, it’s beautiful. With glass ceilings and walls, guests can lie back in bed and watch the Northern Lights dance across the sky, or see the midnight sun paint the glaciers gold. As Segreto puts it, once you’re inside and lock the door, you’re as safe as it gets, even if a polar bear happens to swim past.
How to reach there and the booking price?
For around 7,347 DKK (Rs 1 lakh) per night, the hut accommodates two people and includes a chef-prepared dinner and breakfast. Meals are often simple but special, freshly caught salmon, homemade pasta, or even a barbecue on the outdoor deck overlooking the icy expanse.
Reaching the hut is an adventure in itself. Depending on the weather, guests are picked up by boat from Kulusuk or Tasiilaq, with the journey taking around 45 minutes. Once there, you’re truly off the grid; the cabin has no internet, no phone network, and no modern distractions, except for a satellite phone in case of emergencies.
Those looking for more than just peace can join Segreto for guided activities such as ice caving, glacier walking, and fishing. In fact, Segreto discovered a nearby glacial cave nearly a decade ago - a natural wonder filled with ancient air bubbles and icy tunnels that have existed since the Ice Age.

Airbnb describes the property as the “first and only Glacier Floating Hut in East Greenland,” a one-of-a-kind stay that captures the growing travel trend of quietcations, escapes that prioritise silence, nature, and reflection over luxury and crowds.
