Nooru Saami OTT release date out: When and where to watch Vijay Antony's Tamil social drama based on real incidents

Vijay Antony's latest Tamil family drama Nooru Saami is all set to begin its second innings on OTT. After completing its theatrical run, the emotional social drama will now reach a wider audience through streaming. The makers have now officially confirmed the film's digital premiere, giving viewers who missed it in cinemas a chance to watch it at home.

Nooru Saami will start streaming on ZEE5 from July 31. The OTT platform confirmed the release after earlier announcing, on the occasion of Vijay Antony's birthday, that the film would arrive on the service in August before revealing the final streaming date.


The digital release comes after the film's theatrical run, where it gradually found its audience through positive word of mouth. With its arrival on OTT, the makers are expecting the film to connect with more family viewers across regions.

Story explores a mother's search for a second chance

Inspired by real-life incidents, Nooru Saami tells the story of a widowed mother who spends years raising her son and putting her family's needs ahead of her own. Once she reaches her mid-40s, she decides she wants companionship and begins thinking about remarriage.

Her decision, however, is met with opposition from relatives, villagers and people around her, who believe that a mother's life should only revolve around her children and family responsibilities.

The film looks at questions around marriage, motherhood, sacrifice, women's independence and the social expectations placed on women, while also focusing on the emotional bond between a mother and her son.

A different take on the mother-son relationship

One of the film's biggest talking points is its portrayal of the central relationship. Unlike many family dramas, the son not only understands his mother's sacrifices but also stands by her decision to seek happiness despite criticism from society.
