Delhi pollution spoils family time for Micromax boss

Winter months mean pollution levels in Delhi have peaked again, and even the Supreme Court sounded an alarm last month, calling the living situation “worse than hell”. It’s a sentiment Rahul Sharma is likely to agree with.

Sharma, co-founder of Micromax Infomatics, has now ventured into electronic vehicles, a move he says was partly due to the worsening air pollution in Delhi.

“The air is bad, they say it’s like smoking 20 cigarettes a day. A major cause for that is vehicular pollution,” Sharma told a business magazine.

The pollution has also forced him to stay away from his family, including a two-year-old child and wife, film actor Asin.

“My wife and child are mostly in Kochi, and they come to Delhi when the pollution levels are very low,” he said, adding that he usually flies to Kochi on Friday and returns to the Capital by Monday.
