Kangana Ranaut wants people to take a strong stand against Grammys & Oscars that claim to be international.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is not happy with the international award ceremonies - Grammys and Oscars, conducted by The Recording Academy and Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences, respectively.
The 'In Memoriam' segment of the Grammys didn't feature a tribute to late iconic singer, Lata Mangeshkar. This is not the first time. Last week, too, the Academy missed mentioning the name of India's nightingale in its 'In Memoriam' segment.
Upset with repeated misses, the 'Panga' star called for a boycott of these awards that claim to be global events.
In a detailed note on Instagram, the 35-year-old urged people of the country and media to take a strong stand against the 'local events' in the US that claim to be international. Ranaut's Insta Story After the Oscars and Grammys failed to pay a tribute to the Bharat Ratna awardee, Ranaut said that these award ceremonies have time and again ignored legendary artists, and intentionally sidelined them because of their race or ideologies.
"Our media should totally boycott these biased local events who claim to be global awards," she wrote on her Instagram story.

In another story, she added, "We should boycott these snooty western awards." Ranaut's Insta Story The 64th Annual Grammy Awards paid tribute to several late musical artists such as Stephen Sondheim and Taylor Hawkins in its 'In Memoriam' section, but when the comprehensive list was released on the Grammys website, Mangeshkar's name was mentioned in it.
On the other hand, Mangeshkar featured in BAFTA's (British Academy Film and Television Awards) 'In Memoriam' segment.
The late 92-year-old singer passed away on February 6 earlier this year.
