No melodrama, no tearjerkers: Ekta Kapoor's real life is nothing like her TV shows

Producer Ekta Kapoor may be known for her melodramatic, traditional television dramas, but she revealed that her own life is completely different to the shows she makes. Part of a panel discussion at the ET GBS on women entrepreneurs and the challenges they face, Kapoor said, “We live in the most unconventional set-up as opposed to the conventional shows I make.”

She demonstrated by giving the example of the time each member of her family returns home. “My brother is a single parent, so he comes home first. He’s completely committed to being a parent. My father comes home next; he takes care of the house at times. My mom comes home next and I walk in the last. We live in an extremely unconventional set-up where parenthood is taken on singularly by my brother and I take up the business aspects.” Unsurprisingly, her revelation was met with applause by men and women in the audience.
