Sonu Sood continues to impress fans not just with his work but also with his fitness at 52. Known for his disciplined lifestyle, the actor follows a clean diet and intense workout routine despite being a vegetarian in a largely non-vegetarian household. Over the years, he has maintained that staying fit does not require extreme diets or shortcuts, but consistency, simple food habits, and a strong mindset.

Sonu Sood recently shared insights into his workout routine during a conversation with Sophie Choudry on Famously Fit with Sophie. He revealed that he has been working out every single day since his college days. The actor explained that exercising has always been a non-negotiable part of his daily routine, almost like brushing his teeth. However, he has now made a small but important change. For the first time in years, he has started taking one day off from the gym each week, a shift he introduced only recently.

A vegetarian by choice

What makes his fitness journey even more interesting is his diet. Sonu is the only vegetarian in his family, surrounded by people who consume non-vegetarian food. He revealed in an earlier interaction that he made this decision as a child and has stuck to it ever since. According to him, he never felt the need to try non-vegetarian food and was always clear about his choice. His family supported his decision, even though their food habits were different.

He also avoids alcohol completely, choosing to follow a clean and disciplined lifestyle that aligns with his fitness goals.

So, where does he get his protein from?

Despite common assumptions that a high-protein diet requires meat, Sonu Sood relies on simple, everyday foods. His meals typically include dal, rice, and salads. He has often said that he prefers uncomplicated food and could easily live on basic meals, as reported by an interview with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel in 2025.

Even when travelling or staying in hotels, he sticks to simple dishes instead of indulging in rich or processed food. For him, nutrition is about balance rather than excess. His breakfast reflects this approach. It usually includes healthy options like avocado, sautéed vegetables, and fruits such as papaya, foods that provide both energy and essential nutrients.

A journey shaped by habits

Beyond diet and exercise, Sonu’s approach to fitness is rooted in long-term habits. He has often talked about how he has rarely missed a workout, showing his commitment to staying active. His journey also shows a balance between physical and mental well-being. By keeping his routine simple and consistent, he has managed to maintain his fitness level over the years without drastic measures.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Sonu Sood was last seen in Fateh, which also marked his directorial debut. The film featured him in the lead role alongside a strong supporting cast. Stay tuned!
