Back in June, travel influencer couple Anu Sharma and Anhad Mathur shared a video on their joint Instagram account, offering a detailed glimpse of this tiny European country, considered one of the richest nations in the world. The clip is a part of their European campervan journey.
All about Liechtenstein
As per the video, Anu and Anhad, while travelling from Germany to Switzerland on their campervan, spotted Liechtenstein on the map and decided to explore the place. They revealed that only about 40,000 people live here and unlike other countries, Liechtenstein does not have its own airport or even its own currency and language. Nestled between Switzerland and Austria, the natives here speak German and use the Swiss Franc.
Liechtenstein operates as a constitutional monarchy ruled by the royal family headed by Prince Hans-Adam II. As per the official website of the Princely House of Liechtenstein, the monarchy remains actively involved with the functioning of the nation in conjunction with democratic processes. Beyond its charismatic alpine villages, ancient castles, misty green hills and cowbells echoing through valleys, Liechtenstein is also known for its dramatically low crime rate, with about 7 people in prison and around 100 police officers in the entire country.
Liechtenstein: Things to do and places to see
According to Anu and Anhad, you can explore Liechtenstein in a day by walking through the quaint streets, observing the country life of the residents. Interestingly, you can even get special souvenir stamps on your passports. Meanwhile, the alluring local markets are a treat for shoppers, offering handmade gifts, local crafts, artisanal products, regional delicacies, and unique keepsakes.
Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, feels like turning a page from a fairytale novel featuring sculpted gardens, modern museums like the Kunstmuseum and Liechtenstein’s postage stamp museum. A trek to the royal castle gives picturesque views of the forested hill across the valley. Malbun is another tiny village welcoming tourists with flower-dotted meadows, chapels, and farmhouses.
Best time to visit Liechtenstein
The best time to visit Liechtenstein is during the late spring to early autumn months, from May to September. During this peak season, you can expect pleasant, warm weather with average daytime highs ranging comfortably from 20°C to 25°C, perfect for exploring hiking trails and historic castles.
