Nivetha Thomas is appearing unrecognisable these days. The ‘Vakeel Saab’ actress shocked fans by undergoing a huge physical transformation for her upcoming movie35-Chinna Katha Kaadu’ where she stepped into the role of a loving mother. In a media interaction, Thomas divulged more about her character. She revealed that she was playing Saraswati, a homemaker and a mother. She explained why she had no qualms about essaying the role of stay-at-home mother.

“35-Chinna Katha Kaadu is a simple yet charming story. I played Saraswati, a homemaker. Saraswati, rather than Nivetha Thomas, appears in this film. Even at the age of 20 or 22, girls in Indian society are asked when they will marry. So, I have no issue playing the role of a housewife,” she said.

“As an actor, I am expected to play every character. After watching the film, I would be thrilled if you all thought I did a fantastic job as Saraswati rather than a mother,” she added.

‘35-Chinna Katha Kaadu’ will be released on September 6 in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.

Thomas was last seen in the Malayalam fantasy comedy ‘Enthada Saji’. It was directed by Godfy Xavier and featured the actress in the lead role. The movie also marked her return to Malayalam cinema after a 9-year hiatus. She also appeared in the Telugu action comedy ‘Saakini Dakini’. The movie is an official adaptation of the South Korean film ‘Midnight Runners.’ Directed by Sudheer Varma, the movie also starred Regina Cassandra.

Thomas is hardly the first actress who went to the extreme ends to appear convincing for a role. ‘Baahubali’ actress Anushka Shetty also underwent an enormous physical transformation for the 2015 romantic comedy ‘Size Zero’. Shetty played the role of an overweight woman called Sweety, and for the role, she put on 20 kg rather than resorting to prosthetics.
