The growth of yoga guru Baba Ramdev from a yogic to an entrepreneur has been phenomenal. From making toothpastes to FMCG products, what has now caught everyone’s attention is his company, Patanjali’s foray into clothing — jeans, in particular. Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, it seems, is quite impressed with it. Speaking at an event about the government’s efforts to encourage businesses in the country, where Ramdev was also present, Kant joked, “Yeh toh Levi’s jeans aur Ralph Lauren ko beat karenge”. (He (Ramdev) will beat even Levi’s and Ralph Lauren). Pat came the guruturned-businessman’s response — “We will definitely do that. I will make that announcement today itself.”

The panelists weren’t done yet, though. SBI chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya, who was listening to this banter, joined in with a question for Ramdev — would the jeans be orange or blue in colour? “I know they will be better than these foreign brands,” he answered with a laugh.
