Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra have often given fans major couple goals with their strong bond, candid moments and family updates throughout their more than seven years of marriage. The couple frequently shares glimpses of their life with daughter Malti Marie on social media. But before the glamorous wedding, the adorable family moments and red-carpet appearances, their love story started with a simple direct message. During a recent appearance on the Jonas Brothers' podcast, Priyanka and Nick looked back at that unforgettable moment, with the singer revealing the first message he ever sent the actress and the surprising detail he now loves most about being married to her.

Nick Jonas recalls the DM that started it all

Looking back at the beginning of their romance, Nick shared that his first introduction to Priyanka happened because of his older brother, Kevin Jonas. According to Nick, Kevin recommended Priyanka's American television series Quantico, encouraging him to watch it.

Nick recalled that while Kevin was talking about the show, he happened to notice a huge Quantico billboard featuring Priyanka on Sunset Boulevard. Curious, he checked whether the actress followed him on social media. When he discovered that she did, he decided to send her a direct message.


The singer revealed that his opening message was simple but straightforward. He wrote, "Hello. I've heard from a few people that we should meet. I have to agree with these people. Are you in LA anytime soon?" Priyanka replied, "Hey. Graham's told me so much about you. Let's text. More private. My team can access this."

Joe and Kevin recreate the couple's first conversation

The podcast took a nostalgic turn when Joe and Kevin Jonas surprised the couple by dramatically reading out their old messages. A screenshot of Nick and Priyanka's original conversation appeared on screen as the brothers recreated the exchange.

The re-enactment left both Nick and Priyanka laughing throughout the segment. Holding hands, the couple appeared both amused and slightly embarrassed as they listened to their earliest conversations being performed in front of them. Priyanka also joked that it was funny because she and Kevin happened to enjoy the same television shows, while she and Nick rarely agreed on what to watch.

From one DM to a lifelong partnership

That first message in 2016 was the beginning of one of entertainment's most-loved relationships. After staying in touch online, Nick and Priyanka met in person at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in 2017. Later that year, their joint appearance at the Met Gala sparked widespread dating rumours.

Their relationship moved quickly after that. Nick proposed to Priyanka in 2018, and the couple tied the knot later that year in a lavish wedding in Udaipur. In 2022, they welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, via surrogacy.

Nick reveals his favourite part of married life

During the same podcast, Nick also made a light-hearted confession about one unexpected benefit of marrying Priyanka.

The singer joked that his favourite part of their marriage has been getting access to Bollywood gossip. He admitted that he secretly follows a few Bollywood gossip accounts using what he described as a "ghost" account and enjoys keeping up with the latest rumours and entertainment news.

Priyanka couldn't help but laugh at the revelation. She playfully questioned how gossip could possibly be Nick's favourite thing about their marriage before making another amusing confession of her own.

According to the actress, Nick often knows about developments in Bollywood before she does. She said he regularly updates her about celebrities' relationships and breakups, sometimes even surprising her with news she hasn't heard herself.

Nick added that his interest goes beyond celebrity gossip. He praised the growing international reach of Hindi cinema, saying Bollywood is expanding globally in exciting ways.
