‘Nicely done ... ultimate warrior.’ Bhupathi and Paes hail Rafael Nadal’s historic 21st Grand Slam title

In what can be called his career’s biggest comeback, Rafael Nadal scored 2-6, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-5 to win over world No 2 Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open 2022 men's final.

The historic development comes months after apprehensions over a career halt due to Nadal's injury. Earlier this month, Nadal had revealed that during his six-month injury layoff last year he had conversations with his team and family about saying goodbye to tennis.

With the latest win, Rafa has beat the record of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, to claim the

most Grand slam titles in men's tennis history. Federer and Djokovic have each secured 20 Grand Slam titles in their careers.

Rafa's victory witnessed celebrations from across the globe. Indian tennis stars too have been rooting for the Spanish legend.

Indian tennis star and winner of multiple Grand Slam titles, Leander Paes, took to Twitter to share his excitement for Rafa's victory.

"Nicely done Rafa! Congratulations on the record. Such a joy to watch you getting there. Edge of the seat game!", shared Paes in a Tweet with an image of him and Nadal.

Rohan Bopanna, Grand Slam winner, too congratulated the legend in a tweet.
In a series of tweets, Bopanna had earlier shared his excitement for the tennis match. "Wonder what average time on service games are today compared to previous rounds for both these players," he said in one of his tweets.

Indian former doubles world No. 1 tennis player, Mahesh Bhupathi, too was seen rooting for Rafa ahead of the celebrated victory.
