As everyone has been told, by her publicist, Aishwarya “has always been a private person”.
Chhoro mann ki baat, Trump junking Iran’s nuclear deal, Walmart acquiring Flipkart, and Karnataka voting today.

On Thursday, Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan’s daughter-in-law and actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s publicist caught the world unaware when “a press release from Aishwarya’s team” announced that she was finally joining social media. And, incredibly, she followed it up by actually joining Instagram on Friday!

Speculation has hardly died down as to why, at this juncture of her life and career, Aishwarya chose to join a social media platform. (She is still shy of Facebook and Twitter.) While the official version has it that she joined social media for — incredible as this sounds — social reasons that amount to her being able to thank “all her well-wishers who have been giving her so much love through the start of her career”, some cynics believe it is to ensure that Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb also includes her name whenever there is any talk of beauty pageants.

As everyone has been told, by her publicist, Aishwarya “has always been a private person”. So, it is only fair that her admirers do not disturb her on Instagram the way fans of other celebrities and actors on social media do. Even if that means not being able to follow their heroine ‘live’ from the Cannes Film Festival today and tomorrow.
