Peter Luger’s Luger-Burger and Minetta Tavern’s Black Label are top for flavour and ingredients, while Burger Joint scores for value.

Travellers to New York, you might want to pay note to this. Zagat, the online portal that collates diner reviews of restaurants, has declared that Peter Luger has the best burger in the city in its first such survey based on flavour, value and ingredients. Bagging second place is Burger Joint, while Minetta Tavern, B&B Winepub, Spotted Pig, and Umami Burger all tied for the third place.

The best new restaurant in New York is Sushi Nakazawa, in the West Village, while Eric Ripert’s Le Bernardin retains its crown as top for food for a sixth year. Daniel leads for decor and Gramercy Tavern is most popular.

The results are based on publicopinion surveys. Zagat, which is owned by Google, said there were 30,592 surveyors. A total of 160 restaurants opened and 82 closed, they said.
