WASHINGTON D.C. [USA]: A new video has surfaced that shows American singer-songwriter R. Kelly sexually abusing girls.

A man said he was cleaning out an old videotape collection and found what he thought was a recording of R. Kelly in a concert, but instead it turned out to show a man who appeared to be Kelly sexually abusing girls, he and his attorney shared on Sunday, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

According to attorney Gloria Allred, the man later handed over the tape to law enforcement agencies. However, she and her client Gary Dennis did not discuss the specifics of the tape during a news conference in New York but Allred said it appears to show a separate incident from the 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse that Kelly is facing in Chicago. However, she also acknowledged that she could not be "100 percent certain" if that the man in the tape is Kelly.

Rap as a music genre is often equated with profanity, misogyny, violence and crime. Here are a few times that rappers had to face the music for their work.
In December last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin (L) said rap music must be state controlled. Putin noted that “rap is based on three pillars: sex, drugs and protest”. He said that of the three, he was most worried about lyrics that promoted drug use because it led to the degradation of a nation. His comments came amid a crackdown on contemporary music, with several concerts cancelled. At least three Russian rappers faced the ire of the authorities, with rapper Husky (R) serving a 12-day jail sentence for hooliganism after he performed a song on top of a car in a parking lot after his performance was called off at the last minute.

In February last year, the Spanish Supreme Court upheld a three-anda-half-year jail sentence against Spanish rapper Valtònyc (in pic) for writing songs that glorified terrorism, insulted the Spanish royalty, supported leftists militant groups and threatened to kill a Spanish politician using a nuclear bomb. Valtònyc’s appeal that he was protected by his right to freedom of expression was rejected. He was supposed to voluntarily enter jail in late May, instead he fled to Belgium.

While he presented himself at a Belgian court, the Flemish country denied extradition to Spain.

An attorney for Kelly Steve Greenberg noted that lack of certainty and stated that "It is not him," adding that Kelly "denies that he is on any tape with under aged girls."

Dennis, who works as an assistant at a nursing home, said he was cleaning out a box of old VHS tapes at his home in Pennsylvania recently when he found a tape that was labelled with Kelly's name.

Dennis claimed that he has never met the 52-year-old singer and doesn't know where the tape came. He added that the tape also has a sports game on it and believes it may have come from a friend.

"To my shock and surprise, R. Kelly appeared to be on the tape, but not in concert. Instead he was sexually abusing under aged African-American girls," Dennis said.

"I was disgusted and horrified when I saw that," Dennis added.

According to Allred, they assumed that the girls in the video were underage because they didn't appear to have developed.

Allred, who represents women who said they were abused by the singer, said the tape from Dennis was handed over to law enforcement in the federal Eastern District of New York.

Allred also encouraged others, who may have similar tapes to come forward, either to her or to law enforcement.

The singer has been charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against three girls and one woman. Prosecutors have said that they have video of Kelly sexually abusing one of the girls.

Allegations of sexual misconduct by Kelly towards young women date back to more than 20 years. He was acquitted of child pornography charges in 2008 in regard to a tape that prosecutors stated showed him having sex with a 13-year-old girl.

However, Kelly and his attorneys have denied all allegations of sexual misconduct. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges filed last month in Chicago.

In an interview that aired on Wednesday and Thursday on an American television programme 'CBS This Morning', Kelly broke down in tears and insisted that the claims against him are untrue, adding that he never had sex with anyone under age 17 and never held anyone against their will.

R. Kelly has been ordered to return to court on March 22. The allegations around the singer rose after the broadcast of his six part documentary-series by Lifetime called 'Surviving R. Kelly'. Last year, reports of Kelly holding women captive in a "sex cult" were published. Multiple other reports have surfaced over the years.
