New players in the team and newer WAGs outside of it
In the last few months, Indian cricket has witnessed a spurt of fresh stars not just on the field but in the players’ boxes too.

Judging from his Twitter feed, Raina and his new wife, a childhood friend, are currently on their honeymoon. Traipsing across Europe like the smitten lovebirds (DDLJ, anyone?), Raina has been quite vocal about his feelings for her. “Loving wave in Paris,” he wrote in one tweet while another message to his wife was in Greek. Love needs no language indeed.
Ravindra Jadeja & Chetna Jha
Of all the WAGs, Jadeja’s tattooed ladylove is a bit of a mystery. The cricketer has never directly addressed their relationship in the press although the two have been spotted together after matches. Jha, too, seems to avoid the spotlight studiously. Let’s call her the ‘anti-Anushka’, shall we?
Since stepping out in public last year, Anushka has become the Posh to Kohli’s Beckham. She’s a high profile actress who has added much needed glamour to his entourage. He’s willing to defy the BCCI to spend time with her. Fans can’t decide whether they like her or not (notice all the hand wringing about her presence during India’s World Cup matches). All that’s left is for them to do an Armani underwear ad together and the transition would be complete.
Dinesh Karthik & Dipika Pallikal
Rahane’s wife, whom he married in April this year, is often seen accompanying him to matches but is a relatively low-key presence compared to others of her ilk. Maybe she takes her cues from her no-nonsense husband.
Rohit Sharma & Ritika Sajdeh
Last month Sharma announced his engagement to Sajdeh, who manages his cricket engagements, with this tweet, “From best friends to soulmates, couldn’t get any better.” It seems Sajdeh, like any proper sporting WAG, is her man’s biggest fan and cheerleader.
