New OTT releases of the week (August 17 - August 23): 9 new movies and shows coming on Netflix, JioHotstar, Prime Video and more

This week brings a fresh lineup of movies and series across OTT platforms, giving viewers plenty of options for their weekend watchlist. From romantic dramas and action-packed stories to thrillers and family entertainers, several new titles are arriving on streaming services across languages. Here are the biggest OTT releases to watch this week.

​Welcome to the Jungle is expected to arrive on JioHotstar around August 21, 2026, after its theatrical release on June 26. However, the makers and streaming platform have not officially confirmed it yet. The film features Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Tusshar Kapoor, Johnny Lever, Aftab Shivdasani, Shreyas Talpade and Rajpal Yadav, among many others.​

Outer Banks returns for its final season with the Pogues facing their toughest challenge yet. John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo are stranded far from home and still grieving JJ after his sacrifice in Morocco. The Blue Crown is gone, Chandler Groff remains free, and the group has nowhere to return to. Their uneasy partnership with Rafe may be their only chance. Austin North, Fiona Palomo and Cullen Moss also return. Season 5 premieres on Netflix on August 20, 2026, with all 10 episodes releasing together.

​Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart and Green Lantern veteran Hal Jordan as they investigate a mysterious murder in rural America. The DC series unfolds across two timelines, connecting a 2016 case with events in 2026. The cast includes Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, Kelly Macdonald and Nathan Fillion. Streaming on JioHotstar from August 17.

Starring Kangana Ranaut and inspired by the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the film follows Geeta Madhav Gandhare and a team of 15 nurses and hospital workers trapped inside Cama and Albless Hospital. Despite the danger, they work together to protect and rescue around 400 patients, pregnant women and premature babies. In Hindi, streaming on ZEE5 from August 14.

Don’t Say Good Luck follows Sophie Birenbaum, played by Sunny Sandler, as she prepares to lead her high school musical. Just before the big performance, problems at home bring unexpected emotions and family tensions into her life. As she deals with these challenges, Sophie begins to understand herself better. Streaming on Netflix from August 14.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s crime thriller I, Nobody had a mixed response after its theatrical release on July 9, 2026. Directed by Nisam Basheer, the film is now heading to OTT. It will start streaming on JioHotstar from August 25, 2026. The film also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu in the lead role.

Toy Story 5 follows Bonnie and her toys as a new frog-shaped tablet, Lilypad, becomes her favourite companion. Woody, Buzz and Jessie struggle to stay relevant as screens replace traditional play. Woody returns to help his friends adjust to the changing world. Available to buy or rent from August 18 on Prime Video, Apple TV, BookMyShow Stream and ZeePlex.

Vijay’s final film before entering politics, Jana Nayagan, is now heading to OTT after earning over Rs 300 crore worldwide in theatres. Directed by H. Vinoth, the political action drama follows former police officer Thalapathy Vetri Kondan as he faces a dangerous conflict. Bobby Deol plays the antagonist, with Pooja Hegde and Prakash Raj also starring. Streaming on ZEE5 from August 21.

This documentary explores Novak Djokovic’s journey from growing up in war-torn Serbia to becoming one of the greatest tennis players in history. It features behind-the-scenes footage, family moments, training sessions, and interviews with Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, and Boris Becker. Streaming on Prime Video from August 20.

Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya’s romantic drama Chennai Love Story released in theatres on July 24, 2026. After a successful box-office run, the film is now heading to OTT. It will premiere on SonyLIV on August 21 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi, reaching audiences across India.
