New EarPods could make Apple the king of wearables
Thousands of iPhone customers over the years have had problems with the front display screen shattering due to their EarPods snagging on something.

Apple has tried to improve its glass screens without sacrificing any of the quality, and they’ve largely succeeded, too.

Corning’s Gorilla Glass has helped the iPhone become more shatterresistant over the years, and Apple even enlisted the help of GT Advanced to try to make the iPhone’s display crack-proof this year by replacing Gorilla Glass with sapphire, the secondhardest material known to man. Unfortunately, the latter partnership did not work out. Maybe the glass isn’t the problem — it’s not easy to shatter the phone unless you’re being careless. The problem lies with those headphones that come bundled with every iPhone purchase.

Apple introduced the EarPods in September 2012 — they’ve shipped with every iPhone since the iPhone 5. But wires are wholly inefficient — as they can be frayed or severed or can catch onto various surfaces, which can yank you or your device. Answer — go wireless.

Apple has produced over 1.2 billion tiny speakers for its earbuds, and now EarPods. Wireless EarPods would be great, but why stop there? Apple should introduce EarPods with sensors for heart rate and blood pressure. Apple even patented this solution in 2008. If EarPods could be wireless and health-oriented, Apple might quietly become the king of wearable devices for the foreseeable future.
