The film, which released in cinemas on April 3, slowly built attention through reviews and audience reactions. Story set during a long night of war

Directed by Somidharan, who made his directorial debut with the project, Neelira is set in North Sri Lanka in 1988 during the civil war period. The story unfolds over one long night. It follows a family preparing for a wedding while violence, military attacks, and fear surround their village.

Things take a serious turn when soldiers reportedly attack the bride’s house, forcing the family members into survival mode. The film then focuses on how they try to protect themselves and whether the marriage eventually takes place after the dangerous night passes.

Rather than turning into a loud action film, Neelira stays focused on ordinary people and the emotional cost of war. That aspect became one of the main reasons many audiences connected with the story.

Cast and crew of the film

The movie stars Naveen Chandra in the lead role. The cast also includes Roopa Koduvayur, Sananth Reddy, Kapila Venu, Kayal Vincent, Rohit D Kokate, Swathy Krishnan, Vidhu, Tharmeega Manimara, and Sidhu Kumaresan in important roles.

The project has been backed by producers including Karthik Subbaraj and Rana Daggubati. Stone Bench and Spirit Media supported the film, while AGS Entertainment handled Tamil Nadu distribution.
