Star Chef Gary Mehigan's need for speed doesn’t end in the kitchen! This man has now taken to the skies

Star chef Gary Mehigan may be an expert in the kitchen, but he’s as at ease on the winding roads. The motorcycle enthusiast currently owns three bikes which he loves to take on the open road — stopping for a cup of coffee along the way. And his favourite pillion rider? Nobody. Gary laughs and tells us, “I love riding alone. My wife doesn’t enjoy bike rides much anymore either... she says it’s too hard.”

His need for speed doesn’t stop there. The TV host has also taken to the skies. He says, “I’ve just started to learn to fly — I’ve done three lessons so far and need to decide whether I want to continue.

It’s expensive but I do enjoy it. There is some similarity between riding and flying. I love the experience and never thought I would actually be able to do these things. I am not very good at flying at the moment (laughs). I fly an A22 and it’s a small little thing. I recently took off for the first time. The mechanics are not too complicated but everything else is."
