Nayanthara’s husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, recently deactivated his X account (formerly Twitter), reportedly due to online backlash. Vignesh had participated in the Galatta Plus Mega Pan India Directors’ Round Table 2024, a pan-Indian directors’ discussion, which sparked criticism on social media. According to 123telugu.com, some users questioned his inclusion in the event.

Reasons Behind Deactivation

Critics pointed out that Vignesh’s last film, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal (2022), was not a pan-Indian project, and his upcoming film, Love Insurance Kompany, also does not fall into this category. The interviewer faced criticism as well, with some questioning the selection of guests for the show.

A few days after the interview aired, Vignesh deactivated his X account. While he hasn’t provided any explanation for this decision, his Instagram account remains active. He has continued posting on Instagram without addressing the deactivation of his X account.

Ongoing Legal Battle with Dhanush

This development coincides with a legal dispute involving Vignesh’s wife, actor Nayanthara, and actor Dhanush. Recently, Dhanush filed a civil lawsuit against Nayanthara, Vignesh, their production company Rowdy Pictures Private Limited, and others. The lawsuit concerns the use of three seconds of footage from Dhanush’s film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the Netflix docu-drama Nayanthara: Beyond Fairytale.

The conflict began when Nayanthara accused Dhanush of pressuring her and obstructing the use of footage from the 2015 film in her documentary. In an open letter shared on Instagram, she claimed that even after editing the documentary to exclude the clips, Dhanush sent her a legal notice demanding ₹10 crore for using three seconds of behind-the-scenes footage.

Dhanush’s lawyer later responded with a statement urging Nayanthara to delete her social media post addressing the matter.
