Navya Naveli Nanda manages daily expenses at home
During an episode of What The Hell Navya, Shweta Bachchan opened up about her own relationship with money and revealed that Navya manages the family's daily expenses. Shweta, an Indian columnist, author, former model and daughter of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, recalled working as an assistant teacher at a kindergarten after moving to Delhi following her marriage to businessman Nikhil Nanda. During the conversation, she spoke about how she had borrowed money from her brother, actor Abhishek Bachchan, not only during college but even during her school days.Admitting that her relationship with money was not particularly good, Shweta said she did not handle the finances of her business even though she understood the financial side of it. She revealed that Navya maintains a Microsoft Excel sheet tracking the family's finances and manages the household's daily expenses. Shweta also said that she checks the family finances listed on the spreadsheet, although numbers can still make her nervous.
Shweta Bachchan does not want Navya to repeat her mistakes
Shweta explained that she was happy both Navya and her brother Agastya were financially aware. She said she would never want Navya to grow up with the same lack of financial awareness that she had experienced. According to Shweta, her own ignorance about finances had not passed on to Navya. She also acknowledged that while she understands financial matters, she does not personally manage the finances of her business. The revelation offers an interesting glimpse into how money is handled within the family, with Navya taking responsibility for tracking everyday expenses and keeping an eye on the household's financial details.Navya's first purchase with her own money
The conversation also touched upon Navya's first purchase made entirely with her own earnings. Shweta told TOI that Navya had made her first purchase with her own money and had returned feeling great about the experience. Shweta recalled offering to pay for it, but Navya refused because she wanted to make the purchase herself. The proud mum believed that more girls developing this kind of financial independence could change the world. She also emphasised that being financially independent gives women the confidence to make important decisions while knowing they can support themselves. For Shweta, this was particularly meaningful because she wants Navya to have the ability to make decisions in life without being financially dependent on someone else. She added that she would want the same sense of financial independence for every girl in India.
What did Navya Naveli Nanda buy?

She said she was excited about being able to purchase it independently and described the experience as feeling great. Shweta clarified that the purchase was related to Navya's work, which Navya confirmed.Although Navya chose not to reveal the exact item, she made it clear that being able to buy something work-related with her own money was an important personal milestone for her.
