While some challenged him to visit Kerala, others alleged that "he had taken money from the Indian government to give a good report”.
Last year, Tom Moody was in the middle of a social media controversy. Not because of anything the former Australian cricketer did, but because of global ratings agency, Moody’s.
Many Twitter users attacked the 52-year-old after the US-based agency upgraded India’s local and foreign currency issuer ratings and changed the outlook on the rating to stable from positive.
Social media trolls started to attack Moody, saying he should be ashamed for giving an improved rating to the Indian economy under the Narendra Modi-led government. While some challenged him to visit Kerala, others alleged that "he had taken money from the Indian government to give a good report”.
When asked about the incident, Moody laughed. “My memory is not so good. I don’t remember what I tweeted, but I tried to make a light-hearted response. It was an error in judgment by someone. I took the matter very light-heartedly,” he told ETPanache over the phone.
At the time , Moody had responded with a smiling emoticon, saying: “Thanks to all of you who have realised I don't work in the finance ratings industry! #Moodys.”

The Australian coach said he was aware that Moody’s was a credit rating system. “I took it [the incident] for what it is — a small mistake.”
