‘Naatu Naatu’ composer MM Keeravani honoured with Padma Shri, SS Rajamouli pens emotional note for cousin ‘Peddanna’

Music maestro MM Keeravani who composed the Oscar-nominated chartbuster ‘Naatu Naatu’ (from the global hit movie ‘RRR’) is all set to receive Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour. The Golden Globe-winning composer was named an awardee on Wednesday evening.

The ace composer took to Twitter and wrote an emotional post, thanking the Government of India for the honour. He wrote, “Much honoured by the civilian award from the Govt of India. Respect for my parents and all of my mentors, from Kavitapu Seethanna garu to Kuppala Bulliswamy Naidu garu, on this occasion."
Director SS Rajamouli, who apart from collaborating frequently with the music director, is also his cousin, penned two heartfelt posts on Twitter to congratulate Keeravaani. One was a heartfelt post where he stated that, just like MM Kreem’s fans, he too felt this honour was long overdue. "Like many of your fans feel, this recognition indeed was long overdue. But, as you say, the universe has a strange way of rewarding one's efforts. If I can talk back to universe, I would say Konchem gap ivvamma. okati poorthigaa enjoy chesaaka inkoti ivvu (Don't give a little gap. If you enjoy one completely, give the other one.)" He also dropped an adorable picture with Keeravani.
The tweet was followed by a short but sweet note of congratulations, where he referred to the master composer as “ my Peddanna” and wrote that he was proud of this milestone.

Rajamouli’s post has gone viral on the microblogging platform and has amassed more than 462.2K views, over 70K likes.

Apart from Keeravani, Bollywood diva Raveena Tandon has also been named as a recipient of the Padma Shri award. Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain has been named as an awardee of Padma Vibhushan.

‘Naatu Naatu’ is an energetic dance track featured on the two leads of ‘RRR’, Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The song became viral upon its release and late emerged as a global pop-culture juggernaut.
