It wouldn't have surprised many if N Chandrasekaran's passion for running had diminished after he stepped into the corner office at Bombay House (the Tata Sons headquarters) in February. But on the contrary, Chandra seems to be hitting the tracks with a renewed enthusiasm and passion. He completed his first 30-kilometre cross country run only a couple of weekends back.

Following the Tata Steel-Thyssenkrupp deal, which has been labelled a personal milestone for Chandra, he took a flight the same night for Stockholm to participate in the Lidingöloppet run - supposed to be the world's largest cross country run on the Lidingö island. The race crisscrosses across country trails. Apparently, there are many elevations on the course, which make it challenging, even for regular runners.

The race was a bucket list item for Chandra for a couple of years now, as per someone in the know. Finally this year, he made it his goal and was training for the race for the last month, running 10-15 kilometres every day and longer distances over the weekend.

For the race, he wore a special bib - 1868 - commemorating the year in which the Tata Group was founded. The group will be celebrating its 150th year anniversary in 2018. TCS's Europe Head, Amit Bajaj, wore a bib with the number 1968, since TCS will be celebrating its own 50- year anniversary next year.
