Munna Bhai 3 update: Boman Irani teases sequel of Sanjay starrer comedy-drama. 'I have manifested it'

Veteran actor Boman Irani has once again sparked excitement around Munna Bhai 3 after speaking about his long-standing bond with Sanjay Dutt and his hope that the beloved franchise will return. The actor addressed the topic during the recent song launch event of Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab, where he reflected on his past collaborations and shared his thoughts on the much-discussed sequel.

As per Mid Day, while interacting at the event, Boman Irani revisited his experience of working with Sanjay Dutt, calling Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. one of the most meaningful phases of his career. He explained that the film was never just another successful project for him but an emotional journey shaped by trust, friendship, and creative comfort. According to Irani, the team shared a family-like bond, and those memories have stayed with him over the years.

Speaking about reuniting with Dutt after a long gap, Irani noted that their relationship has only grown stronger with time. He shared that returning to the same creative space felt both familiar and refreshing. He also highlighted Dutt’s presence on set, saying that his energy helps create a relaxed and encouraging working environment that allows everyone to perform at their best.

Is Munna Bhai 3 finally happening?

Addressing speculation around Munna Bhai 3, Boman Irani stopped short of making any official announcement but hinted that the project is still alive in spirit. He expressed his belief that the sequel will materialise once the timing and the story align properly. Irani added that he has personally held on to the hope of the film taking shape someday and remains optimistic about its future. He also playfully urged fans to nudge filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani about the project.

Adding weight to the buzz, actor Arshad Warsi had earlier told SCREEN that Munna Bhai 3 is back on track. He shared that while the film once seemed unlikely to happen, Rajkumar Hirani is now seriously working on it, making the chances of the sequel much stronger than before.

About the Munna Bhai franchise

Released in 2003, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. followed the journey of a Mumbai gangster who tries to become a doctor to fulfil his father’s dream. The film went on to become a cult classic. Its sequel, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, explored Gandhian values as Munna Bhai takes on corruption with non-violence, further cementing the franchise’s place in popular culture.

Boman Irani on The Raja Saab and upcoming work

During the same event, Irani also spoke about working on The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi. The film features a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar, and is scheduled for release on January 9, 2026. Irani shared his experience of working with Prabhas, describing him as a larger-than-life star with a surprisingly grounded and innocent nature.

On the professional front, Boman Irani is also set to appear in Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, which reunites him with Anupam Kher and Ranvir Shorey, adding to the anticipation around his upcoming projects.
